Gnaoua Music Festival Essaouira, Morocco, June 20-23, 2019
The 2019 Gnaoua Music Festival held in Essaouira, Morocco, showcased many of the best artists performing traditional Gnaoua music, who also performed cross-collaboration with artists from around the world. International artists included Tinariwen and Susheela Raman. The festival began with a procession of the performing artists from one side of the Medina to the other side. This year the parade started at Bab Doukkala and worked itself through wall-to-wall people to the gate on the opposite side, Bab El Menzah. The 2019 festival marked 22 years for the annual event! The parade of the artists was a highlight by itself! Enjoy!

We learned so much and hope to spend more time at “Yellow Workshop” during our time in Essaouira. BTW the nightly tanjine dinners were fabulous! 🙏
