Episode 8: Join us as we drive across one of Africa’s smallest nations—a 32-mile (50 km) overland journey through Togo in our 1983 Land Cruiser, Nulla! We entered Togo expecting a quick, smooth drive along one of West Africa’s most smoothest coastal highway, but what we found was an incredible, multi-generational culture of music, hospitality, and community. From a community beach event where locals "spray" money on beloved performers to an intimate, unscripted village rhythm circle where we were pulled in to dance!

From Pampanga to Mindanao: A Ferry-Hopping Overlanding Epic! We drive from Pampanga in the north, south through Manila, and beyond to Mindanao. This is island-hopping overlanding, where ferries are our bridges!
From the dusty trails of Africa to the neon glow of Tokyo! We traded Ghana's rainy season for a hot Japanese summer. We swapped Nulla, for a rented FJ Cruiser for one week on the Izu Peninsula. After that, it was high-speed trains and alleyways.
The "Cinque Terre" features five fishing villages along Liguria's coastline in Italy. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Italian National Park, and protected marine area, visitors can hike, train, or boat between Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore. Resting on drive from Croatia to Genoa, to ferry to Morocco, we hiked all five!

The Havana Jazz Festival is an annual music celebration in Cuba showcasing top international and Cuban jazz artists, blending Afro-Cuban rhythms with modern jazz improvisation in a vibrant, festive atmosphere.
Nulla’s transport from California to Belgium took a month. We flew to Barcelona, settled in Barrio Gràcia, and spent the days and nights eating tapas and listening to flamenco music.
Grounded in Los Angeles during the pandemic we bought a 1995 JB500 Mitsubishi. When the border opened we headed south to Mexico, drove through the Baja, and crossed over to the mainland by ferry. Memories of a lifetime!
We are prepared and ready to go! After 1 year of planning we arrived in Porto, Portugal, to begin our Camino along the Atlantic Ocean to Santiago de Compostella, in Spain. This route will take us about 170 miles on a trail with centuries-old origins.
Nine months in Vietnam: rice, strong street coffee, Pho and constant smiles. From Ho Chi Minh City we rode a scooter north to the Chinese border. People made it unforgettable: friendly and curious. Scooter rides turned into highways, into riversides, and mountain roads. Coastal breezes brought grilled fish. Mountain air brought hot bowls of noodles. One long, delicious conversation with Vietnam.
From Vietnam we took a bus to Phnom Penh, watching the landscape shift from rice paddies to bustling border towns. The journey was long but smooth, checkpoints were friendly, and arriving in Cambodia felt like opening a new chapter of travel!
